“ I came here after a recommendation by my friend who said it's the best local sushi place and I would say there is a local vibe. The hostess speaks little English but is very close with the regulars which is nice. As per the sushi it was very fresh and highly recommended with a wide variety of sushi rolls. It was a little bit pricey and the miso soup in my sushi dinner order tasted weird so I have to knock a star off... ”

“ Four of us ordered a bunch of rolls, and we were completely blown away by the presentation, even for a delivery order. (See our photo.) It was definitely put together with care and made for a more unique delivery meal experience. The menu has a lot of innovative, fancy options. Oddly, some of the rolls tasted particularly salty. It was a little tough to keep track of what roll was what, so unfortunately I'm not sure how to avoid those ones in particular next time, but if salt is a concern for you, maybe there's a way to ask for minimal salt. I would order rolls from here again! ”

“ I'm happy that I'm close to this place during lunchtime because they have awesome bento boxes for lunch specials. You get a lot of extras such as salad (excellent dressing), taro spring rolls, Kani salad, and your choice of speciality rolls. I don't recall the names of many of the rolls but I think the Matsuya Dream roll is delicious, with great spicy tuna. For $1 more, you can get a miso soup. I got the miso mushroom soup for $1.75 and I think it was miso with a mushroom bisque mixed in. Not exactly what I was expecting, I wanted miso with lots of mushrooms that you could chew. However, I heated up the leftover mushroom soup the next day, added some salt, pepper and mushrooms and a dash of truffle oil and it was outrageously gourmet! Lunch is a great way to try the specialty rolls, which are more expensive at dinner time and you get to try two different ones during lunch in the bento boxes. ”

“ Sat at the sushi bar early. We were the only ones sitting there. There were about 3 tables taken that were well spaced (6 feet apart). The oysters were fantastic. The sushi was fresh and perfection. Glad Matsuya is so wonderful. Consistently great food and service. ”

“ Great bang for the buck. The food was definitely better than what they're charging you for it. The rolls, sushi, and sashimi were all very fresh and of high quality. The sushi chef was an older gentleman who looked like he knew what he was doing. The dining area was dim and cozy. Good for a couple looking to have a decent and quiet meal. Or you can sit by the counter and chat it up with the chef. Service was fast and efficient. Nothing to complain about. Overall, the place looked like it's there for a long time, which is a good thing. Not everything needs to be new and shiny. I'd rather go to a tried and trued local joint that knows what it's doing. And this place looks like it knows what it's doing. ”
